The Doel Reed Center for the Arts in Taos, NM invites applications for the May 2019 Jim and Linda Burke Visiting Scholar or Writer in modern or contemporary literature, writing, and/or the arts of New Mexico or the Southwest.
The visiting writer or scholar will interact with students enrolled in a joint undergraduate/graduate creative writing seminar in Taos, “Writing the New Mexican Landscape,” (May 20-31, 2019). In this course, participants will read, write, and workshop creative nonfiction that integrates the physical, cultural, and historical landscape of New Mexico. See fuller description here.
The scholar or writer also will be expected to deliver a public talk or give a public reading while in Taos and will be invited to do the same at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. The honorarium is $5,000. In addition, the Center will cover the expenses associated with the recipient’s Stillwater stay.
